If you’re missing all your teeth, your dentist will likely suggest getting custom-made complete dentures to fit your mouth, which are held in place using one of two methods.

Conventional complete dentures rely on your cheek muscles, lips, saliva, and sometimes your tongue to stay in place. Conventional dentures are removable.

Implant-supported dentures attach to surgical posts in the jaw, providing stability and comfort beyond conventional dentures. Depending on design and implant type, implant-supported may or may not be removable. Only some people are candidates for implant-supported dentures, which require surgery and adequate bone support.
